Dharana

Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi

These final three stages are often grouped together as Samyana yoga. Once the foundation stages of Yoga have been accomplished and the senses have been controlled then we can look to work on Dharana. Dharana literally translates as concentration. It is fixing the mind steadily to one point producing the quality of chittta known as ekagrata or one-pointedness. It is not an easy task so don’t expect quick results, however once the single pointed mind has been accomplished it raises the Yogi into higher stages of mind where the intellect or Buddhi is available of an instrument of the cosmic mind.
